Aviation safety alert: MacBook Pro battery recall

The lithium ion battery in some MacBook 15 inch laptops has been recalled due to flammability. Lithium Ion batteries are already not allowed in aircraft checked baggage due to flammable risk. This is enforced by Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) in Canada, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in the US, and European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) Security in Europe, and is also part of the Suncor restricted items list since 2013.

You must always have your laptop in carry-on luggage. 

Apple has recalled about 432,000 of the units sold in the U.S., and about 26,000 units sold in Canada as their batteries were susceptible to overheating. The units were sold between September 2015 and February 2017.

If you are in possession of the prohibited unit, confirmation/proof of a manufacturer authorized repair will be required before the unit is considered safe for travel.
