Bags will be weighed at check-in. Bags over 50 lb. must be split into two bags – otherwise bags will not be checked in.
You are permitted one carry-on bag and one personal item on board. Examples of personal items include, but are not limited to, a laptop, briefcase or purse.
For security purposes, you should only check in baggage that you know the contents of and that belong to you.
Job tools are allowed in checked baggage only, except those powered by lithium ion batteries. Tools with lithium ion batteries must be declared when checking in. These tools must be carried on board and will form part of your carry-on allowance. Whenever possible, please arrange with your employer to transport your tools separately or store your tools at site between shifts.
Lithium-ion batteries pose a safety risk when not in a device (i.e. fire hazard). You are allowed a maximum of two (2) spare batteries and they must be stored in your carry-on bag. Each spare battery must be in its own protective case, plastic bag, or package (original packaging when possible), or tape placed across the battery’s contacts to isolate terminals (noted by the + and – symbols) to prevent short-circuiting. If you have any questions, please contact your travel coordinator at least 24 hours before departure.
Lost Baggage
Neither Suncor nor its third-party charter flight providers shall be responsible for lost, misplaced, stolen or damaged baggage.
If misplacement or loss of your baggage results in delayed or missed work (i.e. PPE or tools packed inside your baggage), you will not be compensated for these items or loss wages.
You need to speak to a customer service agent at the airport and within 24 hours of your arrival, file a lost baggage report in its entirety.
Should the item be located, you will be contacted by Suncor to discuss next steps.
Allowed/Prohibited Items
Suncor is not authorized to transport dangerous goods or hazardous materials. Under no circumstances shall dangerous goods or hazardous materials be loaded onto a Suncor flight. Contact your travel coordinator at least 24 hours before departure if you have any questions as about whether an item is considered to contain dangerous goods.
Baggage must meet the requirements of both CATSA (Transport Canada) regulations and Suncor's policies.
For a list of what is and is not allowed onboard the aircraft:
Note: lithium-ion batteries pose a safety risk when not in a device (i.e. fire hazard). You are allowed a maximum of one (1) spare battery and it must be stored in your carry-on bag. If you have any questions, please contact your travel coordinator at least 24 hours before departure.
See Safety and Security for a list of additional rules while travelling on Suncor flights.
