Important: WestJet Check-In, Baggage and Boarding Cut-Off Time Changes
Dear passengers,
We would like to inform you of an important update to WestJet’s check-in and boarding policies that will affect both Suncor Charter flights and WestJet commercial flights.
1. Domestic Check-In and Baggage Drop – Effective April 28, 2026
Effective April 28, 2026, WestJet domestic check-in and baggage drop will close 60 minutes prior to scheduled departure, compared to the previous 45 minute cut-off. This change is being implemented by WestJet to:
- Reduce the risk of checked baggage being left behind
- Minimize last-minute congestion at the airport
- Improve overall operational performance and on-time departures
If you are travelling with checked baggage, please ensure you arrive at the airport early enough to complete the check-in and bag drop process at least 60 minutes before your flight’s scheduled departure time.
2. Boarding Gate Cut-Off – Now in Effect
Boarding now closes 15 minutes prior to scheduled departure, updated from the previous 10 minute cut-off.
Passengers who are not present at the gate at least 15 minutes before departure may be denied boarding.
We strongly encourage all travelers to review their travel plans and allow extra time at the airport to avoid any disruption.
