Mask compliance – we wear because we care!

Mandatory mask usage is required at all Suncor charter flight hub airports, including Firebag (YFI) airport. Passengers who do not have masks/face coverings or who refuse to use those provided properly, will be denied boarding or escorted from the aircraft, and can receive a one-year travel ban from WestJet including charter flights. Passenger information is then submitted for Transport Canada investigation to determine any fines and possible addition to the Canada “no fly” list.

Denial of boarding on Suncor charter flights due to mask non-compliance will trigger an internal site ban review process. If individuals are allowed back at site, they will not be permitted to utilize WestJet charter or commercial flights and will need to make alternate travel arrangements at their own expense.

Use of approved masks onboard aircraft and in airports is a Federally Regulated mandate with no legal exceptions other than medical documentation. This mandate is administered by the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) and enforced by Transport Canada. If you have a physical or medical condition that prevents you from wearing a non-medical mask or face covering you will be asked to show this certificate  at any time during your check-in or flight. This form may only be signed by a medical professional.

  • be changed as soon as possible if damp or dirty

  • maintain their shape after washing and drying

The following face coverings will NOT be accepted:

  • Mask with an exhalation valve or vent

The safety of our people is always our number one priority, please continue to uphold Suncor values and respect the safety protocols in place to help stop the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
